Cat's-eye quartz is a macrocrystalline variety of the mineral Quartz (this one was probably mined in Brazil). The "chatoyant" or cat's-eye effect is due to the presence of fibrous mineral inclusions or tubelike cavities in parallel orientation within the quartz. Isn't that interesting?? THAT'S why this Catseye Quartz cabochon looks so darned good! There are two areas of chatoyance; one on the left side which is very prominent, and one on the right side which has a different appearance but is slightly less prominent. The Sterling Silver wrap is very simple in order to present the cabochon more clearly. Clearly cute chatoyant Catseye! What more can I say?
